
On Saturday, February 27th, an earthquake measuring a magnitude of 8.8 hit Chile. The earthquake happened at 3:34 am Chile time (1:34 EST). It was centered approximately 200 miles south of the capital of Santiago, and roughly 50 miles north of the town Concepcion, off the coast of Maule. Many aftershocks occurring within hours, some of magnitudes over 5.0. This is the largest quake in 50 years in Chile.

After the Chile earthquake, Bright Hope partnership developer, Mark Lennox helped to coordinate shipments of relief materials (mainly rice, pasta, sugar, long-life milk, water and shovels) to the earthquake effected areas of Concepcion, Pelluhue and Chanco.
The Coming Winter, the Ongoing Need
Winter is coming soon to Chile, and the immediate need is for coats, rain gear and other clothes that can help the Chilean people manage through the inclement weather while infrastructure and stability are restored to Chile.
