Bright Hope Response:
Myanmar Cyclone Crisis

Cyclone Nargis arrived in Myanmar without warning for most of the population. It has left tens of thousands dead, and more than one million people displaced and highly vulnerable. Bright Hope is partnering with two local Christian groups who have found a way to bring supplies and hope into the worst hit, under-resourced regions in Myanmar.

Our first partnership is with a network of churches that are able to get relief supplies to the people who need them most. So far these churches have been able to distribute rice, noodles and blankets. Additional items such as candles, charcoal, clean water and medicines are desperately needed. While the local Christians are already doing all that they can to help in their community, they simply do not have enough money to purchase the relief supplies that are needed. Your donations will help us to equip these churches with the relief supplies needed in their communities. A gift of $80 will help provide food and shelter for a family of five for one month.

Our second effort will support a Christian relief organization based in Thailand. Their network of Christian relief workers already stationed in Myanmar’s delta region has allowed them to bring in relief supplies to the most devastated communities, in spite of the regime’s blockades. They are providing food, water purification, medical aid and workers to serve those who have no where else to turn.

Bright Hope partners will see that your donations will make a difference today.  They are able to get supplies to people in need, have co-workers to oversee the distribution, and bring the comfort of Christ to the hopeless - but they need funds to make sure this can happen.
