Bright Hope has developed a long-term strategic plan to help the people of Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in January 2010. We’re looking for individuals, churches and organizations to partner with us to bring this plan to fruition and bring much needed Hope to the people of Haiti.

Help support the ongoing work of Bright Hope in Haiti in the wake of the 2010 earthquake:

Bright Hope has extensive experience developing programs for orphans and vulnerable children in under-resourced communities. Through our partnership with a 50-member church association in Pignon, Haiti, we are replicating a model we currently use in Zambia to serve as many children as possible. This program will be administered through Pignon Ministries.
Currently we are working with the churches to assess the number of families who would be willing to care for one or more orphans or vulnerable children. These guardian families will receive training and regular visits by caregivers from the churches and the privilege to apply for a microloan (see below). Orphans and vulnerable children will have their school fees, lunch program and school materials expenses covered by Bright Hope. It is our hope for 500 families to step forward and care for 500 orphans and vulnerable children.

Bright Hope already has a structure in place in Pignon for distribution of Microloans. The program includes skills training, job opportunities and small business start-ups. Microloans will be targeted to our partners in Port-au-Prince and Pignon. It will also serve church families who have taken in orphans and vulnerable children from PAP, as well as some internally-displaced families.
We need a minimum of 100 families sponsored to start the program in each location. Sponsorship costs $360 for each loan, this includes the loan cost, training and Haitian administrative costs. We are aiming to have 500 families involved in a loan program in PAP and another 500 families in Pignon.
