A New Dream Ministry
bol0010
Country / Region: Bolivia / Cochabamba
Project Summary:

Literacy Training, a Feeding Center, Medical Support, a Micro-Enterprise Program and support for the elderly and widowed

Partner Overview

In early 2007, Juana planted her first church with 4 -5 people, by the end of 2007 the church had grown to approx 15. By the end of 2008 they have had 20 consistent members and 50-60 people that visit the church on different occasions.

Juana is leader of our partner ministry in Boliva. Her vision to plant churches in the impoverished part of Alto Plano is changing her community.

Growth continues to add to the encouragement the community has placed great faith in Juana by electing her to the community role of Corejadora. In their indigenous culture there are three roles of authority within the community. As Corejadora she is acting in a role similar to that of president!

In this new role she will oversee the community that is around 60 people. Her election is the result of the leadership and commitment that she has shown to the community for the past years two years. She has also made advancements working with municipality and the mayor of the nearest large town that oversees her town.

They are working together to see the possibilities to work together and put in a water project for the community. From the money going to support church growth they have bought a pulpit, extra pews, hymnals (with songs in the native Aymara language) and some more Bibles.

Update: August 2010

Juana wants to bring a model of church-based holistic ministry to all nine communities with the help of the new Pastor of a church she planted. Pastor Reinaya has experience in llama and sheep sheering, and developing community sized greenhouse programs. The greenhouse will ensure vegetables year round. It will serve to supplement the school and elderly feeding programs with nutritious food.

Pastor Reinaya, who is now travelling from over one hour away, has agreed to move his family closer to his church community to work with Juana on these projects. He will work to get a well drilled so he can begin to water crops in the greenhouse.

We feel we must help Juana and Pastor Reinaya get the ball rolling on this important work in this barren and rural community. This project will serve as a "footprint" for Juana’s dream - - to replicate this effort in all nine towns within her district.
