Pignon Ministry / School Feeding Program

June 2011:

The school at Haut Savanette badly needed some improvements. Students were virtually sitting on top of each other. One class was seated directly next to another class making it difficult for the learners to hear their own teacher and nearly impossible to concentrate on their work. Another problem Haut Savanette faced was having no toilets near the property. While the students wanted to be at school, these challenges made learning difficult.

Thanks to the partnership of Immanuel Church and Jerusalem Baptist Ministry, the school at Haut Savanette now has two completed classrooms and two pit latrines. Construction ended on April 9th and the kids couldn't be happier!

March 2009:

Three schools were part of a pilot program to test the administration and logistics of a school-based feeding program for the students.  During a trip to view the program in March 2009, it was determined that the program is functioning effectively and expansion for the fall of 2009 is recommended.
