The goal of this project is to deliver Christ's love to the poorest of the poor in the province of Uttar Pradesh through the training of 5000 new Christian leaders and equiping them to help the poor in their villages with practical aid such as food, medicine, shelter and clothing needs.
The state of Uttar Pradesh has a population of 169 million. It is estimated that there are only 16,000 Christians in the state. This region is the very center of the Hindu-Hindi heartland and its population could make it the seventh largest ‘country’ on its own. Our indigenous partner has trained many students from Uttar Pradesh and many of them have gone on to plant churches. The capital city is absolutely strategic for reaching North India with the Gospel, and therefore the logical next location for a new training center.
The immediate need is to purchase the land for a church and training center before the end of the year. Without securing a property, land and building costs continue to rise and no training can take place until a safe place is secured.
We believe that thousands of new Christian leaders will be trained and developed over the next few decades. These leaders will return to their villages to plant local churches.
They will carry out relief and development projects to help the neediest people in their communities. They will help the people of Uttar Pradesh to come to know Christ and help meet the needs of the poorest, most overlooked people in their villages. Their goal will be to help these people experience the love of Christ firsthand.
The church and training center plans to train thousands of students. This training will be carried out through Christian Foundations courses, Bible Conferences, Regional Bible Training Sessions and other courses. Once students complete their training Bright Hope will support their relief and economic development activities.
FACT: Ninety percent of the money going to Christian churches and ministries in India goes to ministries in the South or those led by South Indian Christians. Bright Hope wants to help increase the number of churches in North India, the least reached areas of India. We believe through our partnership with indigenous church leaders from northern communities will be raised up to reach their own people.
