Christian Fellowship: Reaching India's Poor
ida0090
Country / Region: India / Uttar Pradesh
Project Summary:

The goal of this project is to help deliver Christ’s love to the poorest of the poor through the training of 5,000 new Christian leaders in the North India state of Uttar Pradesh

Partner Overview

Christian Fellowship (CF), our India partner, has trained over 4,000 pastors and planted over 2,000 churches throughout North India, which is one of the world’s largest unreached areas. CF is also involved in evangelistic outreach, college programs, radio programs, counseling and other ministries to bring Christ’s message of love and grace to the Indian people, and to equip new leaders to return to their home communities to minister and disciple others.

Bright Hope’s current project with CF is focused on the building of its training center in the state of Uttar Pradesh in North India. The location of this center is absolutely strategic for reaching North India with the Gospel, and therefore the logical next location for this facility.

Uttar Pradesh has a population of 169 million. It is the second most impoverished province in the entire country. It is estimated that there are only 16,000 Christians in the state. This region is the very center of the Hindu-Hindi heartland, and the persecution of Christians is on a dangerous upturn.

We believe that thousands of new Christian leaders will be trained and developed through this center over the next few decades. Once students complete their training, Bright Hope will help support their relief and economic development activities.

These leaders will risk their lives daily to share the Gospel and carry out relief and development projects to help the neediest people in their communities. They will help the people of Uttar Pradesh come to know Christ and help meet the needs of the poorest, most overlooked people in their villages. Their goal will be to help these people experience the love of Christ firsthand.

FACT: 90% of the money going to Christian churches and ministries in India goes to ministries in the southern part of the country, or those led by South Indian Christians.

Bright Hope wants to help increase the number of churches in North India, the least reached areas of India. We believe that through our partnership with indigenous church leaders from northern communities, thousands of new leaders will be raised up to reach their own people.
