Nguluni Center
Country / Region: Kenya / Nguluni
Project Summary:

The Nguluni Resource Center provides for basic physical and spiritual needs in the community, including clean water, a small clinic and the ability to hire and keep good teachers,

Bright Hope Support: TBD

Nguluni is a very poor village east of Nairobi surrounded by grasslands.  Water is available only by digging large holes in the ground and allowing rain water to fill the hole.  By the end of the dry season, only mud is left.  Like most cities in Kenya, HIV/AIDS is rampant, many schools are substandard,  and drought and meager crops devastate the economy and leave everyone hungry.

When Robert and Rose came to Nguluni to plant a church, they found a community with many basic needs being unmet.  They started a school, an orphanage, and opened a bore hole to provide the church, school, and surrounding community with clean water.

The Nguluni Resource Center and the Church have made huge strides in providing for basic physical and spiritual needs in the community.  Clean water, a small clinic and the ability to hire and keep good teachers, have increased the health and hope of families here.

There is an ongoing need to provide for teachers salaries and maintain the current buildings.  There is a need to complete the Children’s Home, buy the land the church is on, and fund micro-loans.  These efforts will promote independence and local economic growth.

Funding for this project will support Robert and Rose, provide teachers salaries, and fund a micro-loan program.
