Update: January 2008
“We do a program once a year called “Real Christmas”, mobilizing all our volunteers to distribute toys, food and Jesus’ love on Christmas Eve from morning until dusk. Every year there are more people that join us in our mission. 135 adults served to reach out to $1,800 poor children in their own homes and also in a children’s Hospital.
Jose is 6 years old and is the youngest of 5 brothers; this small child has always inherited the shoes of his older brother; this day Jose received his first pair of new shoes.
A child also received a box of gifts with several small toys, he looked thoroughly inside the box until he saw something that he wanted to find in this box; he took it out and started jumping up and down with great happiness; the child had in his hand a toothbrush. Until this day this child and his three little brothers were using the same tooth brush! The things that may seem insignificant to us have a lot of value to these children!
Meanwhile we were delivering balls to a few poor children and they took the balls and began to embrace them with great love. A 4-year old child was watching me all this time until finally he signaled me over and asked me an astonishing question, “Sir…are you God?” I remained stunned and quiet for a few seconds without being able to answer him and finally I asked him, “Why would you think that?” “Because my Mama told me that God is good!” I knew that we were blessing children but I did not know until this time what an impact we were having on them. I spoke to him about the love of Jesus and this child gave his life to Christ.
