Partner Overview
The small community of Busia, Uganda is desperately raw from disease and suffering, discouraged by the challenges of HIV/AIDS, overwhelmed by the needs of orphans, and ravaged by the conditions of war. Ugandan children can be purchased at local markets for $20. Families are devastated by nomadic tribes who periodically storm through villages pillaging cows, tools, and even family members.
A group of Christian leaders came to Busia with the intentions of building a church. After discovering the conditions of the village, the original plans of the Christian leaders were expanded. A new strategy was developed, wholistic in nature, birthed from the needs of the local people.
The plan which continues to include a church planting strategy, now also includes educational assistance for orphans and vulnerable children, micro-enterprise opportunities, leadership training, pastoral development, and HIV/AIDS support groups and counseling.
The Christian Fellowship Church and Child Care Ministries (CFC/CCM) work diligently and prayerfully to see change in Busia. The accomplishments thus far include:
- 196 children are being assisted with school through the CCM
- 18 CFC churches with well over 560 participating adults now have access to community, wholistic support, and learning about Jesus on a deeper level.
- 2 new churches have been planted in 2006 and none more are in the beginning stages.
- Effective HIV/AIDS ministries provide support and help for getting treatment and for pursuing work.
- The micro-enterprise loan fund of $4000 has been so successful, with 80 families receiving micro loans, that it can now handle more participants.
We love this project because it not only is evangelistic, but it is also a shepherding and wholistic ministry caring for a variety of community needs. The CFC-CCM cares deeply for the people in the area and is always looking for new ways to reach the community.
The project has enormous room for growth which will enable the CFC-CCM churches to bring hope, relief, and the Gospel to the surrounding areas.
We need your help for the on-going support of orphans and vulnerable children, their education, the micro-finance loan program, church planting and other community outreach programs.
