Partner Overview
Eagle’s Nest Ministry is overseen by Butch and Janeffer Dodzweit. Butch and Jeneffer met in Uganda when they were young children and have been serving the people of this country together ever since. This amazing couple has served together for over 40 years and has lived through the multiple dictatorships and wars that have destroyed the country over the years.
Butch and Janeffer had to leave the country in 1972 during the reign of Idi Amin, but returned in 1987 after the fall of Amin’s dictatorship. They have faithfully served the people of Uganda during the reign of the Lord’s Resistance army during the 1990s and early 2000s. Eagle’s Nest Ministry is a diverse, wholistic ministry seeking to serve and bring hope to the poor and marginalized in the country of Uganda. The major focuses of the ministry are:
- Humanitarian aid and spiritual development amongst the internally displaced people (IDPs) in northern and western Uganda. These people include former child soldiers from the Lord’s Resistance Army, child-led households and thousands of widows and orphaned children hard hit by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
- Education and orphan care projects in western Uganda and isolated islands in Lake Victoria
- A school serving 800 primary, elementary and high school students in the capital city of Kampala.
In The Words of Butch: “We believe that revival and healing in Uganda will begin in the North. The north is the poorest part of our country, and the area of greatest need. We believe that through our partnership with Bright Hope, we are going to be able to look back ten years from now and thank God that together, we played a part in reaching the people both spiritually and physically, and that we were able to help them get their lives back on track.”
Current Projects
Apac Women Micro Loan Program, Northern Uganda
Pastor Butch Dodzweit has been making frequent visits to an area of Northern Uganda known as Apac to serve the internally displaced people (IDP) in the area for over 12 years. Some of the people he is helping include former child soldiers from the Lord’s Resistance Army, child-led households and thousands of widows and orphaned children hard hit by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. This remote rural area is home to an incredible group of women (many of whom are AIDS widows) who are surviving on little to no support. This group of 100 women, from nine local churches in the area, came together to support and encourage each other.
In support of them, Bright Hope has partnered with Eagle’s Nest Ministries to develop a micro-loan and job skills training program to give them hope for the future. Through this program, these 100 women are finding new hope for the future and new ways to provide for their families.

The job skills training and first micro-loans (average loan size $75 USD) were distributed in April 2009. Click the Projects and Updates button above to view the updated information and pictures from the training.
This is an on-going program in need of your support. Our hope over the coming years is to expand the program to include hundreds more widows and vulnerable children. A gift of $100 would help fund a micro-loan to a new family and provide them with the life-changing training.
