Katiti Preschool Building Nearing Completion

The new preschool on Mbabala Island, Zambia is nearly finished. Now, the only work remaining is a small amount of plastering on the outside of the building, installing windows and doors and painting. The support of the local communities around Katiti has been fantastic due to a high level of volunteerism in the local churches and the community's desire to see their children educated to the highest level possible.

“Knowing and Doing” is a biblical foundations course for believers. There are 20 separate lessons in the course covering a wide range of core Christian beliefs. A group of almost forty participants from four denominations have been engaged in this training for the last 2 years. The participants included a number of pastors, elders, church leaders, ministry workers and the GROW agricultural trainees.

Waterborne Illnesses Decreasing Thanks to New Pumps

Mbabala Island, Zambia — Lives are changing on because of your support of Bright Hope's clean water initiatives on the island. The local clinic has noted significant reduction is waterborne illness and families are appreciating improved access to the water from the pumps. Cases of diarrhea have dropped from 30-50 to 5-10 per month for children under 5.

Mbabala Island, Zambia — Farmers began forestry training this week in Mbabala. Selected farmers received 500 eucalyptus seedlings to start a forestry project intended to provide firewood, as there's no source of wood on the Island.
