Waterborne Illnesses Decreasing Thanks to New Pumps

Mbabala Island, Zambia — Lives are changing on because of your support of Bright Hope's clean water initiatives on the island. The local clinic has noted significant reduction is waterborne illness and families are appreciating improved access to the water from the pumps. Cases of diarrhea have dropped from 30-50 to 5-10 per month for children under 5. 


Microloan Recipients Work Together at Eco-Friendly Workshop

Pignon, Haiti — Microloan recipients involved in our program worked together this week at a community-based workshop to learn innovative, eco-friendly practices and energy-efficient technologies to increase their incomes. Workshops included biochar, permaculture, briquette-making, swaling, water irrigation, and toilet composting.

Zakhira, India — In the last several months, Bibles and Bible story books have been distributed to children of the women who have recently finished the literacy class implemented in Sahayak. We hope, in this predominantly Muslim and Hindi area, that these women will come to know Christ through the wonderful stories in these books.

Chipako, Zambia — In April, a team from Samfya Community of Care Providers traveled down to Chipako to conduct a water resource management workshop. At the workshop, a volunteer from America and representatives from Samfya Water and Sanitation presented a variety of water pumps and well-drilling options and costs for the community to consider.
