Yolanda Reaches Out to Her Community

Alto Bio Bio, Chile — Yolanda is a Mapuche Indian, living in an area where the people live on approximately 40 cents a day. Yolanda's husband was sent to prison over land right issues with the Chilean government.

Even though she is alone, Yolanda has started up a church in her home to help others in her community cope with the day to day struggles suffered by the Mapuche. Additionally, her goal with this church is to grow the Mapuches in their relationship with Christ. Yolanda also owns her own greenhouse. This greenhouse is part of a new pilot initiative for self-sustainable farming. She hopes to grow vegetables to provide for her family and the Mapuche Indians.
