hope in zambia
Equipping Christian leaders to share the Good News with the lost has always been, and continues to be, the primary goal of the Samfya Bible School. The lack of discipled Christian leaders is one of the greatest challenges to the growth of the rural Zambian church. Samfya Bible School is addressing this issue by offering a one-year Biblical Foundations course and second-year course focused on applied leadership skills. In 2014, the school plans on expanding their teaching program for targeted rural villages, which will increase those reached from 15-20 leaders to more than 100 leaders each year.
Bright Hope's desire to see the local, in-country church become the answer to poverty hinges on the strength of the local church. Many of the rural churches are new church plants themselves and lack the leadership and Christian maturity to handle compassionate ministries. Samfya Bible School has become a key partner in equipping church leaders and strengthening the rural church.
Bright Hope’s areas of focus include:
• Subsidizing the education cost of rural church leaders who attend Samfya Bible School
• Supporting the school infrastructure development program
• Helping develop practical training courses in agriculture, tailoring and carpentry to provide students with practical skills they can use to support their own ministries
• Developing a new church leader rural extension program to take the school’s curriculum directly into communities
