Service Model
Bright Hope serves the abject poor – people surviving on less than one dollar a day. Many of our projects serve entire communities entrenched in generational poverty. Examples of the particularly vulnerable people we serve include:
- Orphans and Vulnerable Children – children who have lost one or both parents, and are especially vulnerable to malnutrition, disease and social abuses.
- Individuals with HIV/AIDS, malaria and other opportunistic diseases.
- At-risk women – circumstances such as the death of a husband leave women without any income, and many are forced into vulnerable situations such as prostitution.
- Communities in crisis – those affected by natural or ecological disasters where people need immediate help in order to survive.
How is Bright Hope Unique?
- We focus on the POOREST OF THE POOR: Many times aid agencies focus their efforts in the urban areas of developing countries. We have seen that the aid does not always make it out to the rural areas where the poverty is typically worse than in the city. Many Bright Hope projects are focused in rural areas, places that are forgotten, regions where other aid organizations won’t even go.
- We practice INDEPENDENCE: At Bright Hope we want everyone we serve to have hope for their future. We accomplish this by initiating job creation programs so that people can earn a livable wage and begin providing for themselves and their families.
- We SUPPORT the initiatives of the local church
- We have FUN, INFORMATIVE, HELPFUL events that you can do with your family, church neighbors or small group.
- We are ACCOUNTABLE: We are members of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. We have a four-star rating on Charity Navigator. We are also members of the Fair Trade Federation. We are committed to good stewardship and to maximizing every dollar so that God is glorified and His kingdom advanced.
