We have incredible news: a few generous Allies have launched a $200,000 Matching Gift Challenge—meaning every donation made by June 30 will be doubled to meet critical needs in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities, including struggling moms.
One of the most immediate needs? Mama Kits—life-saving supplies that help expectant mothers in Uganda deliver their babies safely and with dignity. These kits include essentials like plastic sheets, surgical gloves, gauze, sterile tools and more that reduce the risk of infection and complications during childbirth.
And here’s the best part: thanks to the faithful support of our Board and generous partners, 100% of your gift in June goes straight to the field—no administrative costs, just life-changing impact.
Let’s bring health, hope, and new life to mothers in need—together.
A New Day for Mothers in Katunda
In the heart of rural Uganda, childbirth once carried a heavy shadow. For women in the village of Katunda, giving birth meant risking their lives—and the lives of their babies. With no trained medical staff nearby, mothers relied on traditional birth attendants who, though well-meaning, lacked the training and tools to ensure safe deliveries. The result was heartbreak far too often: mothers lost in childbirth, newborns gone before they had a chance to live.
But today, that story is changing—thanks to the dedication of local leaders like Prossy, the head of health outreach at her church, and the partnership of Bright Hope.
Prossy has witnessed a powerful transformation in her community. When Bright Hope partnered with local churches in Katunda, they provided more than just resources—they offered training, encouragement, and a vision for a healthier future. Church leaders and volunteers were taught how to engage expectant mothers and their families, encouraging them to seek proper care at the Kizigo Health Center.
“We began walking through villages,” Prossy shared, “talking with pregnant women and their husbands, helping them understand the importance of prenatal care. And slowly, things began to change.”
As more women came to the health center for check-ups and safe deliveries, something incredible happened: the government noticed. They responded by sending a qualified midwife to the clinic—something the community had never had before. This milestone marked a turning point. With a skilled professional now available, even more women began seeking maternal care, asking questions, and learning how to protect their health and the lives of their babies.
Miracles for Moms
One story stands out for Prossy—a mother who gave birth to a premature baby at just seven months. The family couldn’t afford an incubator, but the midwife stepped in, teaching the mother how to care for her tiny newborn at home. Against all odds, that baby survived and is now thriving. “That child is a miracle,” Prossy says, smiling.
Another key part of the transformation has been the distribution of Mama Kits—simple but vital supplies for a safe birth. Many mothers had no idea what they needed before delivery. These kits became tools not only for safe births but for education, confidence, and dignity.
And the impact didn’t stop with mothers. Prossy has seen a cultural shift among the men in Katunda. “Fathers who once stayed back are now stepping up,” she says. “They take their wives to the clinic, even carry them on bicycles or motorbikes. They want to be part of this journey.”
This is the ripple effect of hope in action. What started with training and compassion has become a movement—saving lives, strengthening families, and bringing the love of Christ to an entire community.
Thanks to supporters like you, Bright Hope is bringing light into places that once felt forgotten. Katunda is just one story among many. But it reminds us of this powerful truth:
Hope is alive—and it’s just the beginning!
