Stay at Home Mandates Can Lead to Depression—Even for Pastors

The COVID-19 pandemic will impact everyone, although not everyone will be impacted the same. Some will be afraid, some will be angry, others desperate, lonely or sick.

Pastor Roberto* is typically a passionate and lively leader, but recently has grown sad and withdrawn due to the quarantine and all its mandates.

Pastor Roberto is 64 years old, and has been serving the Lord with passion, vision and leadership since he was young. He pastors a large congregation and has planted 13 other churches in the surrounding rural areas. He is a scholar who loves to read, travel, visit members of his church, listen to and advise younger pastors.

But the measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have deeply affected him. Now he is locked up in his house, refusing to talk to those who call him and he is very sad. He is not very tech savvy, and he is missing the dynamics of his frequent church-related interactions.

Please pray for Pastor Roberto and for others like him who are needing encouragement and fellowship during this time of isolation. Pray for the Lord to revive his heart, and for Roberto to regain his passion and enthusiasm for ministry—during this time when so many are in need of hearing the life-giving message of the Gospel.
